Las Vegas couldn’t wait to say goodbye to 2020. Last year will be remembered as a year shut down by the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be seen as a year rattled by social unrest. It was a year scarred by apocalyptic wildfires. It was also a year obscured by one of the most contentious Presidential elections in United States history. It was a year where millions of people had no choice but to adapt to frightening new realities.
The great Mike Tyson once said that “everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” Suffice it to say, we all took a Tyson-style left hook, body shot and right upper cut combo that left us flat on our backs wondering what just hit us. We may not know exactly what to do next, but it involves finding the strength to get back on our feet and to get back into the fight.
We at The Thornton Firm consider ourselves incredibly fortunate to have had so many people in our proverbial corner this year. From the frontline workers at our hospitals to the men and women who have kept our store shelves stocked, we thank you for your bravery and dedication. For the countless millions who selflessly volunteered their time or donated whatever they could, we cannot thank you enough. For the millions of people who simply kept calm and worked to keep the peace during these troubled times, you have our utmost respect.
But most importantly, we want to thank our clients for their continued confidence. We are still here for you. We will continue to find new ways to provide efficient and affordable patent and intellectual property legal services no matter how challenging the new year may be.
The Thornton Firm made it through the worst that 2020 could throw at us. We have endured the lockdowns. We made it through the slowdowns. We built back up from the breakdowns. We’ve made the cutbacks and the sacrifices just as most of you have. But we are still here, and we are a tougher organization as a result.
Now is time to get back into the ring in 2021. We wish you nothing but the best and hope that you are ready to take on 2021 too.
